On the 20th of September , our TY classes headed off to Delphi Adventure Resort in Connemara for a 3-Day Trip. When we arrived , we were brought to our rooms and given a tour of the resort. Shortly afterwards, we were split into two groups, with my group being put on a bus to go surfing. After getting changed into our soaking wet suits, we were shown the basics of surfing. We then spent the next hour trying to stand on the boards before eventually getting used to it in the freezing water. Although I wasn't very good at surfing , I found it very enjoyable. That night we played some games before eating in the canteen.
The next day, we went into the mountains for a 27km trek as part of our Gaisce Activity. We walked along small roads, trails, streams , mud and over the mountains. The scenic beauty on the walk was spectacular. The walk was long and tiring but it was worth it when it was over. That evening we sang songs and told stories around a campfire in the forest before returning to our bunk beds for the night.
On Friday, our last day, my group were off to do the high ropes. These included actvities such as time trials and the 'Leap of Faith' from platforms around 25 feet in the air. Many people struggled to these activities but eventually they overcame their fear of heights. I enjoyed the challenge of the high ropes , especially the time trials.

REFLECTION: I personally thought the trip was the best part of TY so far.The activities that we took part in were very enjoyable and I believe we really bonded as a group. The only problem we faced at Delphi was the food, luckily I had brought some of my own. I also learned that it's good to try new things , such as the surfing which I really enjoyed even though I thought I'd hate it.After the Delphi trip, I believe we all learned some valuable things about each other and skills for life.
