On Tuesday the 9th of January, Anne Hall visited our school to speak to us. When we went into class, we were greeted by several tables of different types of food. The food was a significant part of Anne's talk. She began by showing us the food pyramid. We learned how the World Health Organisation (WHO) has changed the food pyramid. This means there was an extra layer added so fruit and vegetables are now at the bottom of it and are to be eaten 7-11 portions per day.
Anne then spoke to us about the types of meals and snacks we should be eating every day. She showed us examples from the foods she had brought with her. She explained how protein and calcium are the two nutrients we need most of as a teenager, for our bones and repairing our muscles.
Anne carried on before turning the topic to sport. She explained that we should stock up on protein after coming in from a training session. She advised us to consume an egg/glass of milk.
Finally, Anne spoke to us about the new 'super' foods, broccoli, bananas, fish and raspberries and many more.

Overall, I didn't find the talk very interesting. Although Anne was a good speaker and had some interesting content, I've listened to many nutritionists over the years and most of the information was repeated. However, it was good to use this talk as a reminder to watch what you're eating.
