On Tuesday the 24th of April, we left Portumna at 12:45AM and headed for Dublin airport. Everyone was very excited and couldn't wait to be in Spain. We arrived in the airport two and half hours before our 6AM flight and had no difficulties. The flight seemed very short as I slept for almost all of it and woke up refreshed in Barcelona.
The weather was brilliant for our whole trip with the temperatures in the 20's every day. As soon as we got a chance in the airport, we changed into our t-shirts and shorts. That morning, we met our tour guide, Jess, and hopped straight onto a bus to Barcelona. We passed by some beautiful places and buildings such as the Olympic Village on our way to the Museum of Natural History and Science which was enjoyable. The building was massive and had a cool design. We had lunch outside in the sun before heading to the city. We visited La Sagrada Família which was very impressive. Gaudi, a famous architect who's buildings can be seen everywhere in Barcelona, began building the church in 1882 and it's still not been completed. We also got to walk along Las Rambles, which I had already visited years ago. That evening we got a cable car to the top of the Montjuic mountain where we could see the whole city. I was amazed by all the beautiful buildings and architecture throughout the city. We returned to our hotel in Salou and settled into our rooms and relaxed around the hotel before going bowling and watching the Champions League which was a nice end to our first day.
Day Two started at 9:30AM with breakfast in the hotel. The food in the hotel was okay but by the end of the trip I couldn't wait to get back to Irish food. After breakfast, we set off on the bus to Reus and the Gaudí museum. We were handed phones where we listened to audio as we toured the museum. I found this quite boring but after the museum we had some time to eat and shop before heading to PortAventura. We went on rides such as Dragon Khan, Shambala and Hurakan Condor. I love theme parks so I really enjoyed the few hours we had there. We went back to the hotel before quickly walking to the beach which was a short walk away. It was still sunny so getting into the water was great. We returned to the hotel before going into town for some food.
On our final day, we travelled to Tarragonna and saw the Amphitheatre which was really cool to see. We then got some food before heading to Barcelona's football stadium Camp Nou. I love soccer so it was brilliant to see where some of the world's best players have played and the massive stadium. Inside we got to see all of the trophies Barcelona have won as well as the dressing rooms, press rooms and also some of the player's boots. After the Camp Nou, we went shopping in the Maremagnum Shopping Centre. We did a bit of shopping before heading for the airport and returning to Ireland.
I really enjoyed the trip and thought it was the best part of TY. We were only there for a few days but we did so much in the time and saw so many different things. The weather was probably the best part of the trip and everyone got on really well with each other.
